Depression and anxiety disorders

Everyone gets stressed sometimes — it’s a normal response to the challenges of daily life. But intense fear and worry in situations that aren’t threatening can be a sign of something more. Anxiety disorders are common and treatable — just like depression.

Everyone experiences anxiety differently — but most people experience one or more of the following symptoms:

  • Fear and worry
  • Thoughts that something bad will happen
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Being jittery
  • Muscle tension
  • Feeling out of breath or tired
  • Sweaty or cold hands
  • Not being able to sleep

Do these symptoms sound familiar? Take an anxiety screening and share the results with your doctor.

Anxiety and depression

Many people with anxiety disorders also experience depression, and vice versa. Some people have panic attacks, and others experience generalized or social anxiety. If you’re dealing with depression or anxiety — or both — you’re not alone, and there are resources that can help. Talking about what you’re experiencing is the first step.
